In the spirit of spring, renewal and mindset….These RULES to staying young can apply to living life to the fullest and living your passion. They were written by the late George Carlin and I decided to add some “DIVA” comments!
1.) Throw out nonessential numbers…this includes age, weight and height.
Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.
(That also includes any thoughts about the age, weight, height, measurements and comparisons to anyone or anything)
2.) Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down.
(Learn how to HOLD your vibration when your around negative energy!)
3.) Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never Let brain be idle
“An idle mind is the devils workshop!”
And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s.
(As an entrepreneur and just a human being, this is SO important. Find your passion and LIVE IT!)
4.) Enjoy simple things.
(Live simply…whatever that means to you.)
5.) Laugh often and loud.
Laugh until you gasp for breath.
(Then laugh some more. Those may be the best tears ever.)
6.) The tears happen. Endure, grieve and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life is ourselves. Be alive, while you are alive!
(Pause during the day and be consciously aware that you are STILL breathing..Celebrate LIFE!)
7.) Surround yourself with what you love- whether it s family, pets, keepsakes, plants, hobbies,
whatever, your home is your refuge.
(If it makes you FEEL good, do it or have it. I’m adding BOOKS!)
8.) Cherish your health: If it is good preserve it
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
(My Dad always says, “If you don’t have your health you don’t have anything!” AND….he is 93 years old. AND…my mother is 89!
9.) Don’t take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where guilt is.
(Guilt IS a choice.)
10.) Tell the people that you love them at every opportunity.
(You never know what the next minute will bring. Live in the moment. Love always.)
“AND always remember life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away!”
Thank you George Carlin….remembering you!

Yes! total joy!
the feeling of youth is really about being alive, full of life and possibility. Whatever it takes to be in that energy~ I’m all for that!
Thanks Anita
Ditto…..
I was actually surprised at his depth! We all have the deep “knowing” we just have to connect.
Thanks Dr. Robert

Anita – What a great list of reminders that life is not a spectator sport. I see so many people who put off LIVING until “someday”…

Thanks, Anita, for the reminders! These are all points for us to ponder when we live a Conscious Life. His point #2 is actually what I just wrote about in this week’s ezine. I love that George Carlin got philosophy across with humor.
Thanks for sharing.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this and have printed it out to put on my wall! So many wise and wonderful words! I can’t decide which are my top ones – I think laughter, health and telling people you love them (but I don’t have to choose do I!? I’ll just use them all)
Thanks so much!

Anita, I remember being doubled over, laughing so hard that I could barely breathe, tears running down my face and my stomach hurting watching George in his early days.
Then he became a wise rebel and his appeal even deepened. Thanks for the reminder!

I’m back – I’d love to provide a link to this in my next ezine “Food, Mood and Gal Stuff” – I’ve been thinking about these comments all day and I love them!
I love – throw out non essential numbers! So many wise things to remember. Makes me wonder, when do we begin to change from childish innocence to ‘growing old’ in mind and spirit?
Love this! Such simple rules – and they give a great life. Thanks for sharing!
It is a nice tribute to George Carlin and to think you can now say you both performed together!

While I didn’t in general believe in his politics, these tips go above and beyond anything remotely related.
