Wow! When I watched this video and the story of Natalie Merchant’s newest album, I was so “inspired”. First of all, the fact that she took five years to create this work of art and that she allowed the flow of creativity and inspiration to move her through the process was amazing.
We live in a world of wanting instant inspiration, instant success and instant results. Instant gratification. The reality is that sometimes creativity is an inward process and more about our mindset than we realize.
I was recently attending an internet mastermind event and the realization that so many creative souls were wanting instant business, instant success and instant recognition was so prevalent. (Me included!) The leader spoke quite clearly about building a business one step at a time. Her particular journey has been well over ten years with lots of ups and downs and now great success. She succinctly pointed out that her journey was a process and she worked on her mindset daily.
There are many times that we see the outward results without looking at the path that was necessary to get those results! As entrepreneurs, some of our greatest challenges are to stay on course, check with our inner voice and mastermind with other entrepreneurs to share our ideas, businesses, and journey so we can collaborate and learn from others journeys as well as support each other!
Natalie Merchant could have produced an album a year for the last five years. She instead chose to listen to her inner voice and to connect with her creative muse. You can tell that it was an amazing process of discovery. Imagine discovering words written long ago (in poetry) and bringing them back to life in song!
